With 20 years in the performance and entertainment industry Dunedin-based Douglas is one of the busiest producers, directors and entertainers in the country having amassed an impressive array of drama, television, concert and musical theatre credits.
As a producer and director he has been responsible for over 60 national and international musical theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show, Les Miserables, The Producers, The Addams Family, The Buddy Holly Story, JC Superstar, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Cabaret, Chess, Me & My Girl, 42nd Street and A Chorus Line. He toured New Zealand & Asia in the international casts of Chicago & Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Television credits include regular guest appearances on Xena Warrior Princess, Street Legal, Shortland Street, The Pretender and Passion in Paradise. As a television host he fronted the high profile weekly draw of Lotto for 2 ½ years as well as The Lounge, 3 seasons of Destination New Zealand, the award winning reality game show - The Vodafone V24 Challenge and the Living Channels travel show ‘Hit the Road’.
In 2014 he joined forces with Taieri Musical to co-produce and direct Dunedin’s sellout season of Mamma Mia.
He again produced and directed Grease: The Arena Spectacular Live with Taieri Musical in 2016 and Mary Poppins in 2017 at the Regent Theatre, for both of these shows Doug was awarded Best Direction at the Otago Southland Theatre Awards.
In 2018 Doug directed the hugely popular production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert at The Regent Theatre for Musical Theatre Dunedin and Grease: The Arena Spectacular Live for Invercargill Musical Theatre.
Wicked will be under the musical direction of Stuart Walker.
Stuart has been musical director and musician for many shows, including The Big Night In concert which marked the opening of Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium.
He has been involved with the musical direction for a number of musical theatre productions, including Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot, Westend to Broadway, The Producers, Dusty, Hooray for Hollywood, Lights on Broadway, 'Allo 'Allo, Jerry's Girls, An Evening with the Stars, The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee, Hairspray and Music of the Knight, a tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber at the Regent Theatre.
Stuart's Fortune Theatre credits include I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Mum's Choir, Roger Hall's Cinderella, Aladdin and Jack and the Beanstalk and DKCM’s The Rat Pack Returns Live and Vebka's Windowblown concert.
He was pianist for Dunedin's Leading Ladies' in Epiphany Productions' West End to Broadway Showstoppers and was also musical director for Queenstown's Les Misérables, the Reach Out concert and The Rocky Horror Show.
Sydney born dancer, Emma trained in classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance from a young age. She has worked internationally in India and Taiwan on numerous contracts, in Australia, she toured NSW dancing in Grease Live, a tribute show to the musical and performed in many theatre restaurant shows in Sydney.
Since living in New Zealand, Emma has been a teacher at Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz, teaching jazz, musical theatre and ballet for the past five years. As a performer she has worked with Stage Struck productions in the North Island and been a member of the Otago Dancers since 2012, dancing at sporting events, corporate functions and such local productions as the Big Night In.
Emma's choreography debut was in 2014 with DKCM and Taieri Musical's Mamma Mia, followed by Grease: The Arena Spectacular in 2016 and Mary Poppins in 2017. Emma won the Otago Southland Theatre Award for Best Choreography for all three productions.
Emma has also choreographed East Otago Theatrical Society's productions of Oklahoma and Anything Goes, Musical Theatre Oamaru's The Addams Family and Taieri Musical's theatre restaurant Gourmet Broadway and most recently in 2018 Priscilla Queen of the Desert at the Regent Theatre, Grease: The Arena Spectacular for Invercargill Musical Theatre and Ovation for Taieri Musical.
Anna spent 6 years living in London where she gained her Pg Dip in Musical Theatre from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts studying under Paul Sabey, she worked as an actor and also as an agent’s assistant to two of London’s top Talent Agencies before moving back to NZ in 2014.
UK credits include; Martha in The Secret Garden, Sally in Live Like Pigs, Claudia in Angels, Punks and Raging Queens, Young Sally in Follies and singer in Grateful in Concert at Cadogan Hall. She also produced and performed in sold out cabaret shows This Has Nothing to Do With…Love and Revive Me at the Battersea Barge.
Whilst in NZ Anna has performed in Sing for Your Supper for Auckland Theatre Company, performed her own cabaret “Over the Rainbow” at The Basement Theatre and has regularly performed for Doug Kamo Creative Management at various corporate events and local shows including two South Island tours of The Other Mrs. Brownz Boys. Past shows for Musical Theatre Dunedin include Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Cats and playing a ‘Diva’ in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Anna gained her BA in Performing Arts from Otago University in 2007 with minors in Theatre Studies and Film and Media Studies. During this time she studied Contemporary dance adding to her past dance training of Tap and Jazz.
Anna completed her Level 1 TOSCA qualification in 2017 and currently teaches voice and performance at The Voice Lab NZ.
Hayley Lyndom was born in Dunedin and has been involved in many Musical Theatre Dunedin productions since a young age.
In 2005, she completed a Bachelor of Music in classical performance voice at the University of Otago, studying under Judy Bellingham. She then moved to Auckland to pursue her musical theatre dream and was involved in Fame the Musical as well as understudying Belle and playing the role of a Silly Girl in Beauty and the Beast.
After moving to Melbourne, Hayley spent six years pursuing professional musical theatre, participating in workshops with some of Australia’s finest talents such as the fabulous Marina Prior. She also worked on cruise ships with Sydney entertainment company Soul Entertainment. A highlight for her during this time was playing the roles of Rosie/Kit Kat girl in Cabaret and Joanna in Sweeney Todd.
Since returning home to Dunedin, Hayley has enjoyed the roles of Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray, Mimi La Bonq in Allo Allo and Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera, winning her an OSTA Award for Best Leading Female in a Musical.
She is absolutely delighted and excited to have the chance to bring another dream role of Glinda in Wicked to life!
Performing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar (2001, Taieri) as a 21-year-old proved challenging and it was this opportunity that became the catalyst for a lifelong love of the theatre. Greg attended Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School (2004) and since has been involved with numerous theatre companies throughout New Zealand.
Performance highlights include: Beast, in Beauty and the Beast (2006), Jerry, in The Full Monty (2008), Engineer, in Miss Saigon (2010, MTD) Joseph, in Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat (2012, MTD), Edna, in Hairspray (2013, MTD), Mr Banks, in Mary Poppins (2017, Taieri), and Tick, in Priscilla (2018, MTD). Greg and his wife, Heidi produce and manage the Little Cabaret Band, a nine-piece big band specialising in corporate events. Offstage, Greg is a teaching principal at Broad Bay School.
Alethea’s previous roles for Musical Theatre Dunedin include Madame Giry (Phantom of the Opera), Velma von Tussle (Hairspray), Grizabella (Cats), Matron ‘Mama’ Morton (Chicago), Fantine (Les Misérables), Helga Geerhart (‘Allo ‘Allo) and most recently the Lady of the Lake (Spamalot) for which she received the 2016 Otago Southland Theatre Award for Best Leading Female in a Musical. She has played principal and featured roles in Mary Poppins, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Kismet, Die Fledermaus, Chess and Orpheus in the Underworld. Alethea performed roles in the world premieres of John Drummond’s Larnach and Bridge to Somewhere and Anthony Ritchie’s The Trapeze Artists. She has also performed in Masterclass, Shakers and Private Lives at the Fortune Theatre.
Luke is a 24 year old who has been performing since he was 14 at high school starting with 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and since then has been in love with the performing arts and working with the amazing Dunedin talent.
Wicked the Musical is Luke’s Second show with Musical Theatre Dunedin but his first playing a lead role. Luke is absolutely over the moon and super excited to be playing the role of Fiyero and admits that it is a dream come true for him. Other shows Luke has performed in include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Grease: The Arena Spectacular, Les Misérables and My Fair Lady. While working as a Sales Rep for Wurth, Luke is always singing in his spare time and making the most of shows in Dunedin.
Jacob graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Virginia, where he performed as a member of the Academical Village People, First Year Players, University Singers, UVA Drama Department, Opera Viva, Mahogany Dance Troupe, Rhapsody Ballet Ensemble, and Live Arts. After working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Jacob has decided to continue his studies at the University of Otago in Plant Biotechnology. This will be Jacob’s second show with Musical Theatre Dunedin after playing Adam/ Felicia in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, he is grateful for the friendships and memories made over the past year. It is an honor to work with such a wicked cast and crew!
Kristina is ecstatic to be performing in her first leading role as Nessarose in Wicked. She grew up listening to the soundtrack on repeat, so to be a part of this musical is a dream come true. This will be her second show with MTD, performing in Priscilla Queen of the Desert (2018). She was recently seen in Opera Otago’s, Don Giovanni (2018) and The Pirates Of Penzance (2017). She is the first person to study Physiotherapy and Classical voice in conjunction at the University of Otago and is hoping to become a performing arts Physiotherapist! She trained in tap, jazz, contemporary and classical ballet and is a member of the Otago Dance Association, dancing the lead roles in their annual show in 2015 and 2016. She is profoundly grateful to the Creative team at MTD for their faith in her, and for her family's endless support.
Chris is making his Musical Theatre Dunedin debut with Wicked. Past credits include Jesus Christ Superstar (2012), Les Misérables (2013), Mamma Mia! (2014), The Sound of Music (2015), Grease: The Arena Spectacular (2016), Mary Poppins (2017), and was the Production Manager for The Sound of Music (2015), Grease: The Arena Spectacular (2016), and Ovation! (2018). Chris has appeared at Underground Broadway and regularly performs with Doug Kamo Creative Management at corporate events and local shows throughout the South Island. When not onstage or backstage, Chris is the Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of a satellite tracking and communications company supporting emergency services and first responders around the world.
